Newbie in Richmond, VA

Hi, my name is Taneisha and I just recently moved to Richmond to work for a small real estate development company. I learned of Bigger Pockets from a friend who knew I was interested in real estate investing. As I’ve done some reading around the website, I’m a lot more interested in residential than commercial. I would like to start with purchasing my own home and then branch out to investing in more rental properties from there. Do you have any advice on where I should start to learn more about investing in rental properties? Any book suggestions? How should I go about interacting with other investors in my area? I’m trying to learn as much as I can before I make my first move.
