Hey all,

I'm a 30 yr old Computer Programmer in LA who is very excited to begin my real estate investing journey! For my first deal, I am looking for a small multi family building in the greater LA area that I can utilize owner-occupancy.  I am also interested in out of state investing in emerging/growing markets. My (relatively) short term goal is to be financially independent by 35. I am planning on attending any REIA or BP events I can in the coming months, so look forward to hopefully meeting some of you face to face in the near future! I have been actively looking on the usual suspects of websites (loopnet, redfin, zilllow) but feel like I still have a lot to learn about particular neighborhoods in the SoCal area. So if anyone has any recommendations of resources I can utilize to educate myself, that would be awesome!

J

Welcome Josh. I am based in LA and work in the tech sector. I started my real estate journey last year and have similar timelines as yours. Let me know what you are looking for and I can point you in the direction perhaps. I have been to LAREIC meetings in Westwood (on Thursdays) and Sam Sadat's meetings in Santa Monica (on Wednesdays). These are opportunities to learn and meet people. I would also recommend Peter Harris's free online course on Udemy about commercial real estate. Super helpful with new tools.

Best

Vinay
