NEW Member Intro - Cary from Reno, Nevada

Hi all,

Just getting started with BP and it’s a pleasure to meet everyone! I’m a newbie to the real estate investing game, but have owned & rented 3 units in the Reno, NV area over the last 8 years. I’m a father of one and a boat Captain by trade, with a background in marketing, project management, event production and tourism. And now, having moved back to Nevada after 6 years working on the San Francisco Bay, I’m excited to shift into active real estate investing!

I’ve now honed my focus on multifamily units (4-10 units) in Northern NV, and excited to connect with everyone making moves in the area. 

I look forward to learning from you all, and creating some beautiful deal opportunities moving forward :)

I moved from Reno a couple years ago down to the east bay (Concord, CA). I recently, briefly looked at the numbers for some rental units in Reno but they didn't quite make sense for me. I'm sure there are deals to be found, how north are you thinking of going?


Hey @Marisa Aceves . Yes, I finished the exams in September and am waiting to submit for the license. Right now I'm trying to lock down a rehab project management position in the Reno area, to get really good with distressed property acquisition, rehab cost estimation, managing venders, and staging for sale. But, if that doesn't pan out, I'll be hanging my license with a local broker and will go the property management route.

Hey @Daniel Monk , thanks for reaching out. About the furthest I'm interested in going North would be along 395, to Cold Springs. I'm not a huge fan of the area, but many people aren't as resistant to the commute as they were 10 years ago. I'm mostly interested in going south (Carson, Dayton, and even as far south as Gardnerville/Minden). Fernley/Fallon are on my radar too. 

But in all, you're right. The numbers are pretty sad out here right now. I haven't pulled the trigger on anything in the area in the last 2 years.
