Building a team...where do you start?

Freshmen to real estate investment. I have been doing some reading and speaking to other current successful investors. One of the reoccurring questions in my mind has been---How does one build a team? 

I understand that in order to begin this journey, I'm going to need a team (i.e. accountant, contractor, attorney, etc.) Are there any suggestions as to where to find such professionals? FYI, I'm located in NYC area.
