I'm Michael Trinsey from Red Hill, Montgomery County, PA. When I signed up I thought that I would say that I'm newbie to real estate but I've actually purchased 3 SFR. (Haha my first acronym!)
I’ve lived most of my life in and outside of Philadelphia PA.
I have been an Art Director for Medical Trade magazines for over 30 years.
My goals are to have a house in Maine and Florida and a positive cash flow of 12,000 by age 70. I’m 62 now. It’s a late start in real estate BUT better late than never.
I found out about real estate investing through Rich Dad, Poor Dad and then my son sent me an article on the Business Insider website about Dana Bull (Podcast 187) and how she started and that lead me to her podcast, and Bigger Pockets!
@Michael Trinsey welcome to BP! You've definitely stumbled upon the absolute best (IMHO) real estate investing site on the internet!
Best of luck!
Thanks Andrew. I'm really excited to be apart of Bigger Pockets!
Welcome to BP Michael and good luck investing!
Thanks Andrew. This is such a great place to get started in real estate investing.
Welcome to the site @Michael Trinsey ! Rich Dad, Poor Dad was also pivotal to me early on in my journey as an investor.
And @Andrew Fredrickson is right above, you've come to the right place. Between the books, podcasts, blog, and forums almost everything you need to know about Real Estate can be found here on this site.
I'd also recommend checking out our local REIA group, Diversified Investor Group (DIG). It's a good place to connect with others from the site, as well as meet new investors in our area. I've been a member for over 15 years now and I've found the relationships I've build there (and here on BP) were priceless to my growth as an investor. I try and attend the Montgomery County subgroup when I can, hope we can connect in person at a future meeting!
Thank you Dave. I will check out the DIG group too! @DaveVanHorn, How do I get in touch with the DIG group?
Sure thing, @Michael Trinsey . Always happy to help. You can find their schedule of upcoming meetings here:
Welcome to BP! Sounds like you have some very achievable goals. Feel free to contact me about Maine. I've lived here my whole life and I am familiar with most parts of Maine.

@Michael Trinsey Welcome to BP! It's never too late to start. If you aren't familiar with Gary Vaynerchuk, I recommend you watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9j6phv47Mg. A reminder to all of us that it's never too late to get started.
I wish you the best of luck on achieving your goals and creating that life you are looking for. Having clear goals is a great start and the resources of BP will help you create the road map. I hope our paths cross in Maine someday and if I could ever help, then please let me know.
Thanks for the welcome. I'm a navy brat, born in Kittery. I grew up in Philadelphia (another navy outpost). Our family has been vacationing every Thanksgiving in Maine for over 25 years. I love it there.
It's funny. I past thru Biddeford this summer for the first time and loved the area. I'm going to definitely take my family there and show them that area. It has a really cool converted factory.
My son told me about Gary Vaynerchuk. I'll check out the video now. Thanks for the link and again for your message.
@Michael Trinsey I am very familiar with the Kittery area, I grew up across the Piscataqua in Portsmouth. I came up to Southern Maine for college and never left, it's a great area. I moved my family to the Biddeford area 6 years ago and have really enjoyed it. The Biddeford/Saco area has so much going on and investors are pouring in right now. It's a great time to be in this area.
Let me know when you are coming through again. I would be happy to give you some recommendations and buy you a beer.
