Hi everyone!

I'm Kevin, and I just recently became interested in REI. Started reading the Bigger Pockets book on rental property investing and decided to join this forum to seek advice and help with taking that first actual step into investing. Currently I am a registered nurse working in the neuroscience ICU. I love my job, but I just don't feel like I have the financial freedom to do everything that I would like. I am definitely living that "paycheck to paycheck" life...

Hoping to gain some knowledge and advice here!

Hi @Kevin Luk ! Welcome to the BiggerPockets family! You came to the right place to learn all about real estate investing! Here are some recommendations for you:

Welcome, @Kevin Luk ! You've definitely found your tribe here in folks looking to move beyond paycheck to paycheck living....and don't forget to subscribe to podcast - linked in Marlon's post above - they will be a wealth of education for you!

As to your next / first steps....If you haven't already, I would recommend that you start talking to lenders (banks, mortgage brokers, credit unions, etc.) I'm not sure what your financing strategy is for your early phases, but it will save you time and money in the long run if you're familiar with all your options now. And be sure to check with folks other than your family banker (where you carry all your accounts) - you'd be surprised how much price / term shopping can save you on each deal.

Best of luck to you and I look forward to following your journey!

Hello! @Kevin Luk

Welcome to BP, and congratulations on making the decision to invest in your future via real estate.

I have written a few blog posts that may help you get started here on BP, and with your investing. Please click on the links, give them a read, and share your thoughts in the comments.

First is a post that I feel will help not get overwhelmed with the amount of info that is here on BP:

The second is a post that will help get you focused with your real estate investing goals:

The last one is a post that will help you choose an “investor friendly” real estate agent. There are many agents out there, but it’s important to choose the right one.

I love answering questions if you have any! Good Luck :)
