Living abroad as an expat wanting to get started

Nicholas Kershow
Posted

Hello Everyone!,

I am very new to these forums and hope to learn as much as I can from many of you! clearly I am interested in Real-estate investments but im in a unique situation; not your average out of state investor. I am not only completely new to this but I am living overseas working as an expat contractor. has anyone else ever handled their real estate business in such a fashion?

I've begun arming myself with knowledge the best I can through audio books such as the book on rental property investing and long distance real estate investing. I hope to listen to many more!

for the time being multi-family properties interest me the most. on the surface id say they best fit where id like to start. however, I am open to being flexible! Semper Gumby!

wish you all well!

Nick K

Welcome to the forums Nicholas. Definitely being out of the country is going to present it's own challenges but if you're buying rental properties that don't need much work then it shouldn't be too difficult to manage.

Investing in multifamily properties from out of the country however sounds like a whole other challenge because of the financing aspect and getting financing without W2 income in the states can be very difficult.
