Hi BP Community!
My husband and I are looking to get started in real estate investing in Columbus, OH. We're mainly interested in buy and hold rental properties (single family and small multi-family). Our goal is to use the BRRRR strategy to build some momentum as we get started creating our business. We're still doing our research, but I don't want to get stuck in the paralysis by analysis so we've set 2 short term goals: 1) get an agent and start analyzing properties from the MLS and 2) attend meet-ups.
We'd love to hear from other investors in Columbus:
- which meet-ups/groups have been most beneficial to you and why?
- recommendations for an investor-friendly agent to help us get access to the MLS
Thanks in advance!
Hey @Alexa Sevin Welcome to BP! Columbus is a great city and lucky for you, there are lots of agents ;) I would caution to vet your agents carefully...come up with some key questions related to your investing style and preferences. If your agent is not an investor themselves, they can't help...I would also caution you to not sign an exclusivity agreement...you should have your own marketing campaign open and producing results and networking with wholesalers. A deal can come from many places.
Investing is a life-long journey and getting started on the right path is very important to your future success...so be clear on your goals.
Best of luck, I'm sure you'll get some other great advice from some local agents.
Alexa, how will you be funding deals?
The MLS market is very hot right now. I'd strongly recommend referring to https://www.biggerpockets.com/real-estate-investment-calculator and being very conservative on your purchases.
