New BP military member looking to house-hack!

Hey everyone Bill here!

I am 29 years old and have been in the US Army for almost 8 years now currently stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. I am looking to buy my first ever property and house-hack it using a VA loan in and around the Fayetteville, NC region. I have been researching the market for about 6 months now and have walked through a lot of properties while learning a lot along the way. However, most of them are either in very rough areas or out of my commute radius being that I would live in it for at least one year. I am looking to connect with fellow newbie-advanced investors and learn the ropes from those who have done their own investing, preferably in multi-family properties.
