Physician Member from Keizer, Oregon
Hello Everyone
I am a physician (Hospitalist) currently working in Salem, OR but will soon be moving to Portland. Like most physicians, I have very limited experience with real estate investing. I did own a condo in Portland that I rented out for a while and then sold last year at the market upturn.
I am debt free and have been maxing out my retirement accounts every year. I have a flexible schedule and decent disposable income that I want to start investing in real estate with the ultimate goal of achieving financial independence in the next 10-15 years.
I want to begin with investments that are more passive in nature and then move on to more hands-on investing. I am spending a significant amount of time educating myself and looking to interact with more experienced members here who can guide me in the right direction. I have joined a few meetups in order to get a better idea about the local market. I want to be an active participant in these forums and find partners that can help me achieve my investment goals. Any further advice would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
Nik

@Nik Batra I suggest going slow and start by learning about the issues in the Portland (city limits) market. There is some upheaval right now. As an owner of a particular plex I am one problem away from selling. On the other hand many are seeing this as a buying opportunity which makes me pause on thoughts of selling a property I have owned since 1991.
