veteran looking for new opportunities
I am a deployed soldier who will be coming home to the Lexington KY area soon. I have always had an interest in investing in properties but never knew how to start. After reading a few books and doing some research online I discovered Biggerpockets. This site has been wonderful and I am learning so much and cant wait to get home and search for my first investment property. I feel like I have so many questions on how to start. I will continue to check out forums and podcast and absorb as much knowledge as I can. I look forward to being a part of the biggerpockets community and hope for a long successful journey.

Hi @James Judd, I'm in the Air Force and also read countless hours about real estate investing on Biggerpockets on my last deployment. I just closed on my first duplex which I'll be house hacking. Keep studying up and come back ready to make moves. Definitely look into using the VA loan to get into a 2-4 unit at an insanely low rate for $0 down. Incredible way to get started investing if you can put up with living by your tenants for a year or so. Feel free to reach out and chat if you have questions!
