Beginning Investor in the Orange County, CA Area

Hello Everyone!

My name is James Reider and I just recently moved to Aliso Viejo, CA from Albuquerque, NM. Although I've been a "member" of BiggerPockets since 2014, unfortunately I have not been active. Trying to change that. I'm just beginning to actually do some digging into what area of investing I'd like to begin, but that may be partially dictated by the market as Orange County seems to be more friendly to some types than others. That being said, I'm thinking of beginning in either BRRRR or Buy and Hold and potentially looking at the Orange County area as well as the Albuquerque area. I'm hoping to find some meetups in Orange County area sometime soon as well.

A little about me...I'm currently a Tax Consultant with a Big 4 accounting firm in the Orange County, CA area. Unfortunately, as I specialize in indirect taxes (i.e. Sales and Use Taxes), my accounting background doesn't help me much when it comes to REI. I also have an amazing family including my lovely wife and 3 amazing children (my youngest daughter, who is 10 yrs old, has already mentioned how she'd like to help "run our RE business" when she gets older, haha).

I'd love to get to know people in the area and love to hear others' stories, so please reach out!

Take Care,

James Reider

Hello James,

Welcome to BiggerPockets. Southern California is notorious for being very difficult to find cash flowing buy and holds. Flipping tends to work better here. Best of luck on your endeavors.

Sincerely,
