New to the industry and saying hello!

Posted

Good evening, everyone!

My name is Jason and I am new to Bigger Pockets. I am 28 years old and I currently reside in Boulder, CO. I relocated to Boulder in March of this year and so far I absolutely love it out here. For the past 8 years, I have been serving the public as a Judicial Assistant, working for numerous judges over the years. While working full time for the courts, I also obtained an AA in Digital Video Production and a BS in Criminal Justice. I also completed an internship at the Arizona State Senate. I began applying to a number of law schools but suddenly decided at the last minute that law was not my passion.

After years of working in a field I thought I enjoyed, I have come to realize that it no longer suits my needs and I would like to make a drastic change of direction. I have always been interested and architecture, decorating, and most importantly, working for myself. However, I will admit I am still in the beginning phase of trying to determine which investment route is best for my personality, work ethic, and desired lifestyle.

In order to support myself while completing an internship and the final year my second degree, I had no choice but to withdraw my retirement fund to keep up with my bills. Therefore, I am a 28-year-old essentially starting from scratch. While I am still employed full time with the courts, and I currently work a second job on the weekends, I know that if I do not make a change now and dive into the real estate and investment industry, it will never happen.

I would greatly appreciate some advice from anyone who is willing and able to assist. I am independent, determined, and I work very hard. I assure you that your time will not be wasted on me. I’m really looking forward to jumping into the conversations on Bigger Pockets and I look forward to hopefully hearing from some of you!

Yours Very Truly,

Jason D. Rivera
