How far will a mentor take you

Question

Becoming a new member to bigger pockets and investing into the pro account,  I am curious and inviting a discussion on what are the expectations of a mentor?

How to find one and build a healthy professionally relationship?

New investors, like myself, tend to want to make that 1st deal as cautiously as possible with a mentor,  then it's off to the races as they know the process accordingly.

Hey @Cedric Caldwell! Congrats on joining BP - that's a great first step.

@Marlen Weber is spot on. I would just add that it's extremely important for you to consistently add value to them. If you're just always asking for help, they won't always be overly motivated to help you. But if you can find a way to help them, then there's a much better chance that you will have their attention.

Hi @Cedric Caldwell, welcome to BiggerPockets. How far a mentor will go depends on them, on the relationship you build, and how much interest you show. It's safe to say that for the most part, most folks are willing to help out a whole bunch when you show enthusiasm. You'd be surprised :) Best of luck on your journey, keep us posted.

@Cedric Caldwell it depends on a lot of things. Some mentors are better than others, but lots depends on you. I have paid for a number of mentors over the years and they didn’t all bring the same value. If you don’t have a least a small idea of what your aiming for then you will not know if the mentor is a great fit.
