Northern Virginia New Investor

April Hala
Posted

Hi BiggerPockets family! I am a brand new investor with one rental property in Denver, Colorado. I’m a new grad physician assistant hoping to leverage my W-2 job into investing in real estate and hoping to achieve financial freedom in 10 years or less.

I was introduced to BiggerPockets through a friend who is doing house flipping in Tennessee. I was intrigued after I saw his success and passion for real estate.

I’m in the process of paying off my grad school loans as quickly as possible so that I can then concentrate on building a good financial foundation. I’m hoping to learn as much as I can here and hopefully find other like-minded investors in the Northern Virginia area.

That's awesome, good on you! The best way I've found to meet local investors is by attending local networking events. Unfortunately those aren't happening for obvious reasons, but many Meetups are doing Zoom meetings. There are a few active meetups in NoVA that you can find on Meetup.com.

You can do it. 10 years is a super reasonable timeline, particularly for higher income busy pros who can live below their means, invest consistently, and take daily action. Not easy in any sense, but doable!
