Aspiring investor from the Washington D.C. Metro Area

Hello BP community,

My name is Ben and today is my first day on this platform. I am 33, originally from the Philadelphia area, and have spent the last seven years residing in the D.C. metro area (Arlington, VA, specifically), where I work as a freelance Spanish and Portuguese translator. I recently became interested in buying, rehabbing, and holding residential rental properties, so I began reading as much as I could on the subject. It wasn't long before I realized that the books I was most drawn to were all from BiggerPockets; naturally, this brought me to the community.

I hope to connect with other D.C. area investors to talk about the unique challenges and opportunities our area presents. My promise to myself is that I'll use the extra time afforded to me by the pandemic to do my research so that I'll be ready to purchase my first rental when the moment presents itself. I'm also looking into investing in my hometown, Philadelphia, as there are aspects of that market I like better than D.C./MD/VA, but I'll have to decide if the additional risk of investing out of town is worth it for me.

I look forward to being a part of this community.

Thank you,

Ben
