I grew up with no understanding of how money worked. I worked hard but in spite of my efforts I always failed to budget or save. Eventually, I scribbled out what it was that I wanted in life. Family, friends, retirement, financial security… and most of all happiness. When I looked back, all that I saw was one poor decision after another. So, I started to clean it up.

I had none of the tools, so I learned. I had none of the discipline, so I started with small habits that could grow. So, when I first found BiggerPockets in 2018, I was not ready… But over the last 3 years I’ve put both my labor and my education to work. I’ve increased our household income by 110%, cleared debts, saved for the unexpected, and have built a solid floor to stand on. Now, I’m looking to grow my wealth through Real-Estate investing… I just want to say thank you, to all for you that support new and old members alike. You are the real heroes.

Located in Seattle, WA but focused on long-distance investing. Not opposed to local if the deal is right. Looking for Single/Multi Family homes to buy, rehab, rent, and hold/flip. Way to go @Mark D. - its a shame that they don't teach how to live a financially healthy life in schools here in the "richest country in the world", but the internet, your community, and the local library are available to those who are willing to put in the time, set their ego aside, and learn. Sounds like you did just that, and have had great success so far- congratulations!

We're in a great Househacking market here in Seattle, so that's worth considering if you don't already own your primary residence. That's been my focus, and my client's focus, so happy to chat with you more about that over coffee or on the phone if you're interested. Investing OOS sounds like a good plan as well, assuming you have done the research and have the experience and trusted contacts to do it well- I'm sure you've read the horror stories here on BP about OOS investments going wrong because of the wrong agent, wrong property manager, etc.
