Newbie from SF Bay Area, CA

Hi everyone. My name is Bruce, early 30s, non-tax accountant in the SF Bay Area, born and raised. I'm just trying to soak up as much information as possible and hope to begin investing in a year or two. My ultimate goal is to be financially free by 40. I don't want to stop working, I just want to be able to do what I want, no matter how low the pay. I couldn't care less about accounting but it pays the bills. I ran across the idea of "house hacking" and google ultimately led me here. I like the idea of out-of-state investing since everything around me is so expensive, aka intimidating, but am still learning about the pros and cons of this approach.

Anyways, thanks for having me and I hope to be able to grow and learn from your collective wisdom which will allow me to give back to the community down the line, whether it be this one onlne or others.

Thanks for reading!

Hi @Bruce Hyunh - welcome to the world of RE investing. Learning and narrowing your buying criteria is going to be your next steps. I built my portfolio around apartment investing in the bay so be open to the naysayers who say Bay Area doesn’t work, plenty of folks investing here.  I run a Bay Area specific apartment investing group - link in my profile. Feel free to engage and find like minded investors there.
