Newbie from north jersey looking to get started in REI

Posted

Hello, my name is steve. I am new to REI.. over the past couple weeks i have dove head first into trying to learn as much as possible, Between books, podcasts and everything else i can get my hands on.. I am looking to invest somewhere in the morris county, nj area (depending on the market). As that is where I live. I am looking to use the BRRRR method. With the intent of doing most of the reno myself at least for the first properties as i have a little bit carpentry and plumbing background I currently do not have any investment properties. Just my primary residence which i lived in for 2 years with my wife and newborn! Any insight into helping me navigate getting started would be much appreciated.thank yoi

Welcome Steve and congrats on being dad. Your story sounds very similar to most of the people on this site, myself included. My only advice is to buckle up and enjoy the ride. It's not a get rich quick scheme but if you're prepared to hang in there and grind it out, there's a lot of things to learn and some money to be made. Best of luck on your journey!
