Chicago born, northern VA located newbie

Hey everyone!

My name is Will and excited about digging deeper into the power of real estate. I currently work in IT as a Salesforce Admin for a bank in northern VA for the past 2 years, but before that was in consulting. My wife and I have owned 2 homes, one of which we actually rented out for a few years, so I have a little experience, but know that I could learn SO MUCH more.

I'm interested in networking and learning on the forums. I spend a lot of time on other forums (music, tech, sports) so why not spend time on one that is full of knowledge to help me in RE. I am reading "The Book of Rental Property Investing" by Brandon Turner and I also have "BRRRR Method: The Secret to Building a Real Estate Portfolio" by David Greene. It only makes sense that I continue digging further into the BiggerPockets community lol. Looking to invest within the next 3-6 months and refine what my strategy will be. With ties to Chicago and southern VA, I see myself targeting those areas first.
