Investing in Raleigh, NC

Hey BP!

I am new here on the forum, but I wanted to put myself out there and potentially meet some fellow real estate investors and/or mentors in the Raleigh area to learn from and possibly partner with.

I am 22 years old and in the process of transitioning out of the Army in the next 6 months back to civilian sector and I am interested in using my VA loan to begin my journey in investing. I have saved up 30k to invest and I would like to start by house hacking a duplex or triplex.

I will most likely be going to college while I begin my journey investing in real estate. Any advice in beginning process would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

@Nathan Seidl As Mitch mentioned, it will be really tough to buy something with a VA loan right now. My clients with 25% down are losing to cash buyers, and we are offering to pay the difference between price and appraisal with still very little luck.
