Near-Chicagoland Connections Opportunity

Hi, 

New to BiggerPockets and I am looking to get involved in the Chicagoland network. I am looking for a SFH deal or duplex within a 3 hour driving radius. I am struggling to find a submarket to focus in. Trying to avoid Chicago due to price point and the tenant-friendly nature. Anyone have experience in near-chicago markets?

I found the Straight Up Chicago Investor podcast. are there any other resources people have found useful?
