BiggerPockets listener, new to community!!

Hey All 👋 I'm Jennifer!

I live in central New Jersey just off of the Jersey Shore. I am recently married with no kids. My area of expertise is veterinary medicine/research--I am lucky enough to work a very flexible remote W2 job, and have a few small side hustles. I own a home which I live in with my husband and our 2 fur-children and influx of foster pets.

I hope to get into real estate investing, specifically, short term rentals. I am a veterinary technician, by trade, who historically make no money, but I am passionate about helping animals. My end goal is to make enough passive income so that I can go back to work as a veterinary technician and work in animal rescue. I also have a love for travelling, nature, home decor, and food and the idea of managing an airbnb-type income property is actually something that interests me. My husband shares a similar (similar meaning, low-income-producing) passion as a musician which he would like to pursue full-time eventually. He is currently self-employed as a contractor so that he can pursue music on the side.

The markets I am interested in are Northern Virginia (Blue Ridge Mountain area) and the Upstate NY/Catskill area. We are open to house-hacking, but we love our home in New Jersey and being near family. Our ideal scenario would be to rent out our primary home for a few years while we house-hack in a new area. I want to build a strong financial foundation so my husband and I have the freedom to make choices in our future.

Looking forward to getting involved on the site! Thanks for reading

-Jenni
