Additional Structures on Properties

Good afternoon, BiggerPockets crew,

I’m in the process of starting a portable building company (sheds, greenhouses, workshops, etc.), an industry I already have strong hands-on experience in.

One of the biggest challenges on the management and planning side is accurately predicting customer demand. For those involved in real estate or property improvements, what types of accessory buildings are you seeing homeowners prioritize most?

Are buyers primarily looking for simple storage sheds, unfinished workshop space, greenhouses, finished flex spaces, or something else entirely?

Additionally, what methods have you found effective for identifying trends and collecting reliable demand data — whether through surveys, market observation, or direct customer feedback? I am also looking for resources to go more in depth (other platforms, blogs, books, Youtube channels, etc.)

Thanks in advance — I really appreciate any insight.
