Business cards a necessity???

Are business cards a necessity being in REI? I know that opportunities can be found without them, but has anyone had a business card get them an opportunity they otherwise wouldn't have without the cards?

How else will people you meet face-to-face have your contact information? 

Real estate is alllll about networking and marketing- and you can do neither if people don't know how to contact you.
