No More TV?

What's going on? All of a sudden, all of my local TV channels are running announcements that special interest groups are trying to do away with free antena TV. Complete with exhortations to contact your representatives to let them know that you want to keep receiving your free broadcast telelvision.

Does anyone know what is happening?

I don't know. I chucked the idiot box out of my house 2 years ago and have accomplished more in that time than I have the past 10 years. If I really need to see a TV show I can hulu it. If I need to be "aware" of issues, I can read. If I need news I have a radio, regular and shortwave, where I can get news from dozens of international perspectives.

The only thing I can justify the purchase of a TV anymore is for a home theatre setup.
