where's the oil?

I hear a lot of left wing people say that we invaded Iraq for the oil. admittedly I'm not a smart man. I dropped out of college, but I do have a lot of real world experience. So help me understand this please. If we invaded a country for oil..where is the oil? Why are gas prices so high if we took all their oil? Why don't we get oil out of the Gulf of Mexico instead of letting Russia drill there? Wouldn't that be cheaper than starting a war? I know...you can call me stupid, and that's ok...just please explain it to me at a high school level.

Thank you in advance.
Rich

The wackos were the ones that said we invaded Iraq for the oil. It wasn't so.

Wheres the oil? Offshore the U.S. west coast, gulf coast, Alaska, colo oil shale, utah, texas etc. Everyone knows where the oil is. Administration would rather see Brazil drill than us. Wierd deal, imo. Rich
