Quitting your day job

Hello BP Nation!

I'm interesting in hearing from folks that made the switch from part-time to full-time investing. When and how did you decide to quit your day job? How did you plan? What held you back? What was better/worse than you expected about self-employment?

Thanks!

Hi John,
I have told this story so many times, and it is actually on video out there. I was a tool and die apprentice on track to make nearly 50k that year, and I realized that because it was a union shop, I was only 1 dollar an hour behind a guy that was there for 50 freakin years!!
I already had a handful of houses and was killin myself doing both, so I quit! My mom cried and thought I ruined my life because I left a union job, but a few years later they shut down.
I had no plan, and it about tanked me! LOL! I had some rocky times, but learned a lot! That was back in the 90's and I never looked back. I am full time real estate and have done literally hundreds of deals since! If you wanna talk, I would be happy to give you some advice if you want. It is possible, I would just have a little better plan than I did, LOL! My first day of freedom, I drove by my few rentals, had my realtor tell me I was an idiot and my career as an investor was over, so I went out on a boat for the day in Lake Erie and did nothing! LOL! not a great plan! ( the story in person is much more detailed. sorry, I hate typing! )
