Kids doing chores

Our daughter does chores on a regular basis. She had a couple of her friends over (8th grade) & we go onto the topic of chores around the house.

One said she had too many activities & so had not time. The other has a stay-at-home-mom so she pretty much does everything. My brother-in-law told me today's kids are just plain lazy.

It got me to thinking - doesn't it start, and end, with the parents? How are we teaching work ethic/helping around the house when all these kids do is get on facebook, text, & play their video games?
