Multifamily Group in Metro Detroit?

Question

Hello Everyone,

I am looking to network with investors of multifamily properties in the metro Detroit area.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  I am a member of MREI, but the main focus is single family homes.  I am ready to make the jump to a 15-30 unit apartment building and I would like to talk with people investing in my local market.

@George P.Thanks for the advice and yes, we should meet for lunch sometime.  I work in Plymouth, so we should be pretty close if you are in Livonia.

@Joe Fairless Thanks Joe, I think I have met Nick before, but I didn't know that he did multifamily.

Good plan, thanks Joe M, I will have to try that.  Seems like a smaller amount of people invest in multifamily, so I can't wait to talk with more people with experience in this field.

The REIA of Oakland had multi-family subgroup at this time, but if there's enough demand for it we would start one. Brad, please contact me to discuss directly:)

They called it the multi family subgroup when I was a member but that was approximately 10 years ago. I do not know if the subgroup you mentioned is a continuation of the other group. I think it is a different group but there could be some overlap of members. Look for @Drew Sygit or @Ron Walraven. They may know.

@George P. had a good suggestion, at the MREI meetings sometimes they have the section where you can stand and announce what you're looking for.  That might be the best way to find someone in that niche to network with.

i dont think there is one. i wondered that myself and it's too specific of a market for something like that. your best bet is to ask every person at the meetings to see what they have/own. or announce it so you dont have to tell 50 people what you are looking for - that's hard to do without looking like you are speed dating.
