Cost of Replacing Boiler heating to HVAC system?

Question

I own a house in Belleville NJ that has a boiler heating. The boiler recently broke and I need to change it, the question is would it be worth it to change the entire system from Radiator/Boiler system to HVAC and how much do you think it would cost aprox?
It's 2700 SF one family house It would need duc work as we only have radiators now.

Alot more information would be needed to give you much of an accurate ball park estimate. Best bet is to get a couple reputable HVAC guys to check it out.

I agree with @George W..  Far too many variables that can have an impact upon the price.  Get a number of quotes.  You'd most likely want to do that regardless.  I will say plan on north of $10k as a min.

Hey man, I had the same issue in my boonton, nj property. I wanted to switch to HVAC. They quoted me 17k. My property manager advised against it. If you are paying utilities, radiator heating is actually more efficient. Also I found that the reason it costs a lot is because they have to tear up the drywall. If you really really want to do it. Wait until you have to do some reno where the wall is already open. Less charges, because with 17k, you can put down for another property. Not worth it man!

I would just replace what you have.  I had a house with baseboard heat and I miss it.  The furnace doesn't work as hard.  All it does is heat the water and he pumps do the rest.  The house stays warmer longer with less gas usage because the hot water is circulating and the radiators get warm also emitting heat.  Forced hot air once the furnace is off, there is no more heat.  I am actually considering switching to baseboard heat in my house.

I had a company come out to service my boilers and they said hot water is much better than steam from a maintenance aspect. I assume you didn't look into switching or just too expensive?

I ended up replacing the old boiler with a new steam boiler. It cost $7K including new boiler and labor. I'm happy with the results. Thanks for all your help

Forced hot air also heats the air up too much and makes it dry, thus making a need for a humidifier.
