HVAC Pricing Question

Hello,

So for my most recent project i have gutted the house down to the frames a 1600 sq foot colonial two floors called in a few HVAC companies to give me a price and i have prices ranging from $13,000 to $20,000 for a 4 ton 60,000 btu system with ductwork installation. The prices seem really high to me i had a similar size building done for $8500 about 4 years ago so i am confused on why the price is almost double now. Anyone have any recent experience on pricing and any recommended installers in North Jersey?

Very expensive! I pay around $8500 for 4 story, new construction house, 2200 sq ft, including a nest thermostat. Ride around town and stop by job sites and ask for the hvac guy. Ask other trades for a good hvac guy. Ask them to ask a buddy if they don't know anyone. I find my best subs by asking my best subs if they know any good subs. The guys that do good work appreciate working with other guys that do good work and will usually recommend them.

I don't know about NJ but that seems excessive to me. I had a 3 ton 1600 SF house done down here TN at the end of 2016, including ductwork, for $9k, and it wasn't an easy job.

Honestly depending on the duct that just be it. I feel I get pretty good prices and I’ve paid more than that running all new duct work in a two story house. Lot of walls and chases to mess with.

Were you able to find a good HVAC contractor to install your system? I could use a recommendation. I am in newark and am rehabbing a 3 floor house with approx. 2300sq/ft

thanks,

satha

New gas furnace and ductwork for $7k - $9k is a fair price range. Add on new AC unit / heat pump and coil and you may be looking at another $4k - $8k installed.

@Yavuz Bayram I use Comfort Zone but they are in Ocean County. Great guys. The first bid they gave me, I nearly fell off my rocker. But the guys there didn't give up. Kept coming back to me with various solutions until they found one that fit my budget.

You obviously met each contractor. The one that you were most comfortable with, show him the lower estimates. See if there was something the other guy missed. Ask him for several solutions if the price is too high.

That's way toohigh. Our highest quote for a 2 story was $5700 including 'some' new 6inch duct work. But we weren't stripped to the studs.

We went with the $4500 Hi Effic & central air & did our own replacement ductwork to the 2nd story & to the 1st floor.

we ended up doing two units for the two different floors for $13,700

Was that both heating and A/C?

Yes heating and cooling for both floors. Bel Air brand.
