Garage Apartment in Richardson, TX

Hello BP!

I am closing on a house in West Richardson that has a garage that needs to be totally replaced.  I was thinking I may take this opportunity to build a little bit larger garage with an apartment above it.  Does anyone have any experience with the building code department in Richardson and if a structure like that would be approved?

The current garage is 20x20 and detached from the home.  I would probably do something more like 20 x 30 with a 2nd story.  It is set on the back of the lot next to the alley.

Thanks,

Ryan

@Ryan Moret - No idea with regards to the building code - but happy to share the plans from the detached garage that I had built. Its about 850 sq feet. Hope it helps
