property tax increase 50%

Hi all,

Just noticed there is a 50% property tax increase for a property we bought early this year. Specifically, it's the "improvements" that doubled from 2018. It's been flat for decades and all of sudden hiked. I noticed it's the same case for some other properties in the adjacent areas as well.

This property is in a rural area, north west of Fort Worth. There is no major development nearby, the house itself has no improvement either. I failed to see the reason of this radical increase.

Anyone knows the cause? Does it have anything to do with the property itself, or the value of the county?

Thanks!

in my experience when a property sells the tax authority gets that info and will automatically increase the appraised value to the amount the property recently sold for. So this may be the first year of the new appraised value since you purchased the property.  Is that the case?
