Real Estate Question

Since our options are very few for duplexes in Norfolk VA area we are thinking of Suffolk and Chesapeake. Does anyone have rental property there? If so, what is the it like there for rental properties? I heard that it is not a good idea to invest into Suffolk but our options are slim. We are moving in November. Since I have had 3 knee injuries on one knee work is not easy to come by so we need a duplex to help offset some costs. I think I will have to add in my talks about having a backup plan in case something like my case where I have specialty in security and deliveries but now I can't utilize either. Definitely should of had a plan for this, feel sorry for my wife having to pay for everything. Anyways, I'm trying to come up with a feasible plan but since I don't live in that area currently I'm trying to find a way to get info for the area from people who have experience. Just like an animal when it gets cornered we are going for any area since time is running out just as long as it passes the VA loan requirements.
