If I wanted to buy on a land contract and then sublease the property out to a tenant could it work in the state of Michigan?

As the owner of a property using a land contract in Michigan, you are the owner and may lease the property out--unless your land contract agreement prohibits it.  (Since you are not the tenant, you would actually be the landlord in this case and would be renting it out to a tenant--not a sub lessee.)

Also, be aware that some city's frown on land contracts that are rented out...just check your local ordinances.
