"Covered parking" in LAR1 requirements?

LA county zoning ordinance says that LAR1 residences should have at least two "covered parking spaces" per single family house. How covered is covered? Can this just be a shade structure with a canopy, or does it need to have a roof, side walls, and a door? I googled around for a while but to no avail.
