townhouse in San Jose downtown?

Hello there,

Would you buy a townhouse on the south side of San Carlos street for primary residents and rent out the extra room? It is for a short commute and appreciation of the townhouse in the future with the downtown San Jose development and Google campus.

I am a first-time homebuyer. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Downtown San Jose has many different specific locations and values and desirability can vary widely as you move street by street.  I work, live and manage assets in the area and would be happy to walk you through any questions you may have.  House hacking is a great way to enter San Jose's expensive housing market.  But, you want to make sure you are buying in the right area in order to attract the type of tenant you want to live with while you house hack.  I am always available to discuss!  Feel free to reach out to me at any time!

Downtown San Jose is a great area to invest in whether it's for primary residence or passive income.  You are correct, in my opinion, the appreciation within Downtown San Jose appears to be a sure thing as we move forward for years to come.  You are better off buying a SFR with land but given the prices in the area it may be too high for your budget?  Reach out to me when you have time and we can further discuss.  This year alone I have sold over $20,000,000 worth of Real Estate in the Bay Area.  I am a San Jose native.
