Real estate newbie

We're new to real estate and are looking for advice from more advanced members. I'm a registered nurse and my husband has a plan to get into apprenticeship in carpentry. Option A: we would move to California and live in a apartment while our main house ( LTR) is being rented out that is in WI to work as a RN and my husband gets into the apprenticeship . Option B we buy a 5-6 bed house somewhere ( doesn't matter where) and live with three other people who would pay us rent and we would live there with them and we can do the apprenticeship and RN while we get into our corporate housing business. We just don't know if buying a house in the next few months is going to be worth it with the market. What do you guys think and where would be a good area to invest in a 5-6 bed house in the USA?
