Suggestions for contractors in East Bay?

Any good recommendations for contractors in the East Bay (or at least willing to work in Oakland)? Looking for someone that is great for high quality remodeling but won't break the bank.

As a side question, what are the general ranges in dollars per square feet for a full gut renovation for a house in the Oakland Hills (built on steep incline)?

They're all rebuilding after the NorCal fires, being paid by insurance claims payouts.

That's what you are up against....

GC-based strategies aren't currently realistic in Oakland, unless that GC has done 3 or 7 prior jobs for you or is a family member.

With regard to the Oakland hills reno - Do you have foundation issues and that's the reason for mentioning the steep decline? I might be able to refer you to an integrated architect/GC but would need to know more about the project first. As far as reno costs, it really varies from anywhere from $185/foot up to $275 per foot. Depending mostly on needed foundation work,complexity of layout, desired finishes and whether it requires planning approval.
