How much more difficult is it to find a GC opposed to a sub?

How much more difficult is it to find a general contractor opposed to a subcontractor?

And how much time do you need to give a general contractor to start a job? If someone wants to sell their house and I line up financing immediately, is there a way to find a general contractor fast and make sure they start working ASAP? I can’t supervise a subcontractor. I have a full time W2 job.

Hi Mike, a great GC that's very busy will probably not start right away. If you find one that can start immediately you'll probably want to keep a close eye on his progress for the first few weeks.

Rather take the time now to get a good GC to prevent losing weeks through needing to replace him or needing to do reworks that will cost you on time and budget.
