what is fair pay for a appointment setter

Question

I have the opportunity to hire an appt setter on a commission basis. Compensation would be based on the successful closing of flip properties. what would be fair compensation in this case? any ideas?

Appointment setter is tough to do commission only, it can be done but you really need lead flow, they need to have a realistic expectation to get paid in 90 days or less, few people will remain focused for more time than that before getting paid. If this setter is US based, calculate what commission they would need to make a decent wage in your area. Could be 5-10% if this were regular residential RE (they would need to be licensed in most States). If its a VA outside the US, commission only is almost impossible to do (I run large call center outside the US that does this every day).

This is tough to answer. Typically we have paid appointment setters based on specific KPI’s which are typically getting the appointments setup.

If they bring the lead but someone else cannot close it that is really not in them. So we do things like # of calls per week and number of appointments set. If they make x # of calls they get something and extra for every appointment

Aloha Suzanne,  it think that its going to be difficult to find and on/off shore appointment setters who are willing to work on a commission basis. I have a large team in the Philippines which includes appointment setters.  Most of them work really hard to feed their family and rely on a steady paycheck every two weeks.  As a option, instead of a commission structure, you can put them on a bonus plan and provide payouts based on a set of criteria.  Secondly,  instead paying out on a successful flip which can take anywhere from 3-6-12+ months, you can do a bonus on appointments set/completed.   BTW, you get what you pay for - the cheaper ones are robotic/scripted while the good ones (more expensive) have presence, personality and situational awareness -  which helps with appointment setting.  HTHS!  Joel
