My name is Lucas Shank I live in Southwest Florida, and I’m completely new to this, I am an electrician, I grew up in construction, and for the last 2 years have been remodeling my house after hurricane ian, I am interested in getting into flipping homes and duplexes. What should I know and learn?

Hey Lucas - That's a great background for getting into flipping—your hands-on experience is a huge asset. To get started, focus on understanding your local market trends, what buyers or renters are looking for, and how to accurately budget, including holding costs, permits, and contingencies. Learn how to estimate ARV (After Repair Value) and compare comps. It's also important to understand financing options like hard money loans, HELOCs, or partnerships, and stay up to date on permitting and code requirements—especially any changes after Hurricane Ian. Start small, stay disciplined on your numbers, and build a solid team around you.
