I'm purchasing a home with a right-of-way running through the back yard. Is there a way to have this removed? It's not going to or from anywhere but is written in the deed.

Ah, we see now. The easement makes sense, as you can't have a land locked piece of property with no access, and generally the land owner along the road Has to grant an easement. The easement actually belongs to the current owner of that land (you), but it generally Stays with the land, regardless of who the owner is. You may or may not be able to get rid of it, since you could later sell that land to someone else. You'd need to see a real estate lawyer. It might require combining the lots back into one lot. Curious, why do you want to get rid of the easement? Tell us everything relevant to give you a better answer.
