I had to replace several doors in my recent purchase.  I bought semi gloss paint and thought I would paint all the doors and jams.  Well, the 4" mini roller worked nice, but whenever I used a brush it looked ghetto as he!!   Ok, so I suck at painting.  My wife (I'm so thankful for her) came behind me and made it look much better.

What is the painting tricks for these surfaces as well as smooth walls?  99% of my walls are textured and I can paint like a madman on those.

I forgot to mention.  The slumlord I bought the property off of taught me a lesson... Antique white flat for walls and the same but semigloss for doors, jams, baths, and kitchens.   If your brush hits it, oh well it blends right in.
