Who can remove carpets that have had human waste on them.....

Question

This may be a silly question.......

But is this something I need a specially licensed company to come in and remove or....Where do I start looking for someone who would come remove gross carpets from human waste?

There is a mobile across from the one I just flipped/sold and the gentleman was evicted. He had a severe drinking problem and would just sit in his chair and soil himself.  I can buy the home from the park but....I want to make sure having that removed wont require extremely expensive specialized removal or such....

Anybody with a good pair of gloves and a really limited sense of smell maybe. :-)

I don't think you'd be required to get any special chemical hazard company to deal with that though. Typically, thats only asbestos that something like that would come into play.

Now you may find your typical contractor might have a problem with it.

But somebody should be willing to do it.

I dont, but I think my wife does occasionally, and you know that bit in Star Wars on the attempts they make on the Death Star "stay on target stay on target", well, that's kinda like what I tell my wife. But without the impending doom of a tie fighter suddenly shooting her down.

Personally, human waste is nothing compared to animal waste. It's not so much poo, as urine, urine....wow....just foul. Especially cat urine. And rabbit pee is meant to be the worse - and it damages hardwood floors quite badly - it literally strips the coating off the floor.

But removing carpet is easy, buy a mask, and get on your hands and knees with a knife, pry bar, whatever.

well at least where I am from which is Chicago area, I use Empire and they come in and remove the old carpet and put in new. Its included in the job. I never touch anything. I assume you will be putting new carpet down? Get the company you hire to get rid of it for you. Might cost you a bit more but its worth it.

You might try calling carpet cleaning companies. The one I know also does cleaning after deaths and accidents. If the company you call doesn't do it themselves that can probably refer you to someone who does.

I second looking on craigslist. Look for someone who advertises as cleaning up after hoarding, crimes, disasters. Make sure you tell them what the deal is before you get them out there so they know exactly what they're in for. You never really know what you're getting into when you hire off of craigslist; I found a guy to take out a hugely soiled carpet (not as bad as you're describing, probably -- but he said it was the worst he'd seen) and he was great. However, a cleaner I hired to come in and do the cleaning after the carpet was gone was totally ineffectual, even though she swore up and down that she could clean anything. But a carpet removal is fairly clear cut- either they get it out or they don't. Cleaning is more subjective. Good luck!
