Hi everybody. My name's Anthony from Bergen County NJ. I've been on BP for a few months now, but haven't posted much so I figured I would say hello and introduce myself and situation. I am 29 years old and have been wanting to get involved with real estate investing for a little while now and am finally ready to do my first deal. My focus is going to be buy and holds to generate passive income each month. My plan is to start looking for a duplex or triplex in my area and start with the house hacking route to get my feet wet in the landlord world.
Being in northern NJ, prices are pretty expensive, but I'm hoping I'll find something that I can make work. I am going to be using an FHA 203k loan and was just wondering about the process. I plan to purchase in February or March of 2016. Should I be talking to a real estate agent now? Go find a mortgage broker first? I plan on trying to use an agent who is also an investor (I listened to one of the podcasts with Darren Sager and hopefully can work with him). Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
