Rehabbing on Galveston Island

Has anybody done a rehab on Galveston Island and if so, is there anything that I need to be aware of that I would not know unless I have been through the process with the City?

This will be an extensive rehab project. Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Roofing, Pier & Beam foundation, completely gutted at present.
