Virginia Contractor's License

I am currently pursuing getting started in real estate with focusing on flipping to start with.

Our real estate agent informed me that to be able to do my own rehab I had to have a contractor's license in VA if the home is an investment property.

I just wanted to see how other people have addressed this and what steps you have taken.

Thanks!

Aaron

The answer to these questions, and more, can be found in Chapter 11 of the Virginia Code, Title 54.1. Failure to have adequate licensure as designated under this statute (and local ordinances) could subject you to fines from the government, civil lawsuits from consumers, and liability from purchasers. For more information, seek out a Business Attorney to help you get started.
