Allure ultra snap in vs Allure tile?

Question

Contemplating just doing the allure ultra in my bathroom rather than the tile because the design of the tile looks more prone to issues? Anyone have experience with the 2? The home has a light color wood grain pergo dining room/ kitchen that butts up to the bathroom, I wanted a darker setting in the bathroom, the tile would look better imo vs a wood grain to a different color wood grain. Sticky sides I think is called grip strip.  I thought laminates were to be avoided in all water prone areas though?  Even if they state waterproof I'm still a little weary.  And the allure tiles in a bathroom im not very confident, because there are many joints.  I'd really have to see the product first hand.. I guess I played it safe / cheap and went with the vinyl flooring sheet.  No seams other than at the toilet / water line and all outer sides, seal-able with silicone.  I'm still learning too though so im sure some of you are much more educated on rehabbing / product selection for type of property

Not the Allure Ultra as a whole, just the snap. From what a Home Depot employee told me when we were buying Allure flooring is that the issues with the snap caused it to break and separate quicker so they are going only to the Allure with the sicky sides (what ever that is called).

I've used the grip-strip flooring on a few of my properties and I must say I absolutely love Allure flooring. I've never used the ultra so I cannot comment from experience but one advantage I think the ultra would have over the grip-strip is that the ultra will be consistently even. With the grip-strip if you lay just ONE plank a little bit crooked it can throw off your entire floor!!!

But with knowing that you can just take your time and they will turn out fine. Also if you're doing the grip strip i'd highly suggest getting transition strips. They help out a ton.

hmm, I chose to stay away from the laminates in the bathroom.  Then I was going to do a ceramic / porcelain tile.  Which is a decent job, I went out and got all of the materials.  Just changed my mind after checking the levelness in both bathrooms, don't feel like turning it into a big project since I have other things to worry about at this property and would like a quicker turn around.  Plus its all OSB plywood.  A lot of stuff is cheap in the home. I went and grabbed sheet vinyl lol, which doesnt look too bad.  Will use high end stuff in a more worthy property.  Its a manufactured home, tough justifying upgrades.   I yanked out a cabinet and then found their access hole for the shower lol.  Yeah just beat a hole in the wall that works.  Gonna have to retrim the bathroom.  This was a dry fit with the vinyl sheet, i sealed the toilet side just now, going to do the nearest side later.

Oh, make sure the floor is swept well also. I would use a floor roller to, however, i was cheap and used a hammer to pound where the tiles connected, and it worked great! Here is some before/after photos just to see. The kitchen took about 3 hours to law, the laundry and utility about an hour per.

The allure snap on was discontinued from what Home Depot let me know, due to issues with it not lasting. We literally just got done doing our kitchen with the regular allure tiles. It looks great and feels great.

The one thing I will say is it does not work well around curves or door frames, it is a floating floor. DO NOT pin it down with anything other than furniture and quarter round or it will get messed up in the future. Keep a few razor blades on you to cut the tile, just a light cut and bend it backwards to break it. Also, be prepared to be cut up on your hands, when you are breaking the tile it tends to get really sharp when you don't realize it and you'll be bleeding before you know it.

But all in all, great looking flooring. It does stink for about a week. :/

I'll put up some photos of our install here once i get them on my computer. I was happy with it.

Place is a wreck at the moment, previous owners still have a lot of their things I'm clearing out and agreed to leave for a week or so.  So first picture with the fake fireplace is when you walk in the main entry into the dining room / kitchen and look forward into I dont know what room that would be called, I'm thinking about running pergo straight across, it was carpet.  Thoughts?  Then to the left is the master bed, next picture looking far out is the living room still carpeted.  I thought about running the pergo all the way there too!  lol.  Or I re-carpet, decisions decisions.

No the Allure ultra is not the same as the regular allure or the tile, they utilize a grip strip whereas the allure ultra utilizes a locking feature.  I bought this house, currently you walk into a dining area, they have pergo there then it runs to the kitchen and stops at the living room.  Im having to redo all the flooring aside from the pergo due to it being 14 yrs old.  I thought about extending the pergo but not 100% certain if I should run it throughout the whole house.  As for the bathrooms go & the laundry room, I'm starting to contemplate ceramic tile now.  Probably like 150 sf total, not a very large house.  Its something I may do and then settle for carpeting the bedrooms.  I think it'll be weird if the whole floor plan is pergo/allure.  Id classify this home as a class b rental target.  I'll get some pictures of the layout, may help.
